Brianna, Bucket & Dagwood
High-Flying Canyoneering Partner
Brianna and Keith Madia are outdoor junkies who call their giant, orange Ford E350 van home, along with their two dogs, Bucket and Dagwood. Inspired by the words of the legendary Dean Potter, Brianna and Keith strive to “never leave the dogs behind” by taking Bucket and Dagwood just about everywhere with them. Bucket and Dagwood have lived on a 33-foot sailboat, climbed mountains ranging from the Adirondacks to the coast of Washington, kayaked the whitewater of the Colorado River, swam in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, traveled across international borders, attended work in an office building several days a week, and spent the remainder of their days free-roaming the deserts of Utah. Brianna and Keith pushed the traditional boundaries of adventure with their dogs when they developed a love of technical canyoneering. To date, Bucket and Dagwood have navigated through over 30 technical slot canyons with over 50 rappels ranging from 18 to 220 feet. Brianna and Keith are huge advocates for adoption, as both of their beloved dogs had a rough start in shelters.
Bucket & Dagwood are, in the simplest terms, our entire reason for being. We’ve often wished that we could love anything even half as much as Bucket and Dagwood love everything.-Brianna
A place that feels like home
The four of us have drifted about from living on a 33-foot sailboat in a small harbor in Long Island Sound, to cramming what few belongings we had into a 400-square-foot studio apartment 3,000 miles away, and then finally moving into a giant, orange, Ford E350 van so that we technically never had to go home again.
